Thomas Wälde Team Fund The Thomas Wälde Team Fund was initiated by the late Prof. Thomas Wälde and Mr. Ian Laird in September 2008 to raise funds and distribute donations to teams in the form of accommodation or travel subsidies. The full amount of all donations received goes to teams. Teams receiving subsidies are selected based on available funds and team needs. In 2008, over US $6000 was raised and distributed to teams in the 2008 FDI Moot in Boston and the 2009 FDI Moot in Frankfurt. In 2010 $3200 was raised (US $1600 from individual donors and matched by FTI Consulting). We would like to thank the individuals for their donations and FTI Consulting for agreeing to match all donations for 2010 up to US $2500: In 2010, $2700 was distributed to 3 teams from India, 2 from Georgia and one each from Ecuador and Russia. The balance of $500 is being held over for teams taking part next year when the FDI Moot will be at King's College in London. For 2011, we hope FTI will again offer matching funds and we are already looking at new ways to raise more and help additional teams, especially those from countries with lower levels of income. Donations administered through CILS Benefactors ("Network for Good") may be tax-deductible.
Salzburg, 25 October 2008 - The Wälde family has permitted the FDI Moot to name its prize for the best advocate in honour of Prof. Wälde.
