Omar Aljazy is an international business lawyer and enjoys extensive practical expertise in the areas of international transactions, intellectual property, construction disputes, shipping and maritime issues, competition, and antitrust matters.
Dr. Aljazy has advised many leading multinational corporations, as well as local and regional firms with respect to various legal themes in Jordan. Additionally, he has written many papers and articles on international commercial arbitration and has been involved in various national and international arbitration cases, either as Chairman, Co-Arbitrator, or Secretary for different arbitral tribunals with particular reference on construction disputes.
Dr. Aljazy headed the Founding Committee of Arbitration and Mediation Center for Intellectual Property Disputes recently established in Jordan under the auspices of the Arab Society for Intellectual Property (ASIP). Currently, he is a member of the Judicial Reform Committee headed by the Jordanian Minister of Justice. In addition to being a listed Partner with the United Nation's Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) Project on Dispute Settlement in International Trade, Investment and Intellectual Property, he is a listed arbitrator with many prominent Arbitral institutes worldwide.
Dr. Aljazy is a Part-Time Lecturer in a various academic institutions in Jordan, lecturing on: Alternative Dispute Resolution and Intellectual Property Rights, Copyright, Commercial Legislation, Legal Environment of Business, Contract of Carriage Goods by Sea, Commercial Law, Companies and Insolvency Law, and History of Law. He currently serves as a board member in various leading Jordanian companies, including Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC) which is a partnership between the Jordanian Government and the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA). He also is a board member of the United Company for Marketing Jordanian Olive Oil, the largest Jordanian consortium of the companies in this field in Jordan.
