Joseph Brubaker practices in international dispute resolution through arbitration and litigation, serving as counsel to corporate clients and sovereigns before arbitral tribunals and US courts. He also advises on the drafting of dispute resolution clauses in international contracts.
Prior to joining White & Case LLP, Mr. Brubaker worked as an intern to Judge Richard Conway Casey at the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, served as counsel in arbitrations under the JAMS and IACAC rules, advised a Brazilian company regarding its investment in Bolivia, and completed a clerkship at the International Court of Arbitration (ICC) in Paris, France.
His recent experience includes:
Counsel to over 190,000 Italian bondholders in an ICSID arbitration relating to claims arising under the Italy – Argentina bilateral investment treaty in a dispute about Argentina's moratorium on payment of its sovereign, foreign debt; and
Counsel to Romania in an ICSID arbitration relating to claims arising under the United Kingdom – Romania bilateral investment treaty in a dispute about duty-free services in Romania.
