Dmitry Dyakin leads the International Arbitration and Litigation practices at Magisters' Moscow office. Dmitry has over ten years of experience in litigation and international arbitration, particularly in disputes involving state monopolies and companies with foreign investment in oil & gas, banking or construction sector. He is recognized by his peers as an expert in real estate disputes and corporate conflicts. Dmitry has successfully conducted more than 200 proceedings, including cases involving Alfred C. Toepfer GmbH, Lafarge Cement, Miratorg, RAO UES of Russia, Russian Railways, Mosenergo, Transneft, Zarubezhneft and Rosenergoatom. Dmitry has an expertise in the area of international arbitration with the experience of arbitrating under ICC, LCIA, ICDR, GAFTA and ICAC (MKAS) rules. His recent most representative cases include acting on behalf of: Avtotor, a Russian automotive OEM, in an arbitration in Stockholm under ICC rules; Linas Agro AB, a Lithuanian agribusiness company, in its four claims in the ICAC (MKAS) and in the subsequent enforcement procedure; a British company in the ICAC (MKAS) in a charcoal supply agreement dispute; a major Russian telecommunication company in connection with a corporate dispute in New York under AAA rules; energy sector companies in the Arbitral Tribunal under RAO UES of Russia; major German grain trader Alfred C. Toepfer GmbH in an international arbitration under GAFTA rules in connection with defense from parallel torpedo litigation initiated by the respondent in Russian courts; a Russian agribusiness holding in connection with an arbitration under ICC rules. Dmitry has represented clients in a number of precedent-setting cases in Russia. These include: defense of the interests of a Russian industrial group in a corporate dispute over a major cement plant; representation of Lafarge Cement, the world's largest cement manufacturer, in a dispute with a Russian power monopoly; the representation of a transportation company in its dispute against a Russian Railways subsidiary in connection with servicing contracts; and protection of Zarubezhneft's property in Russian courts. Dmitry’s former positions were General Counsel at the Energokaskad holding company and the Managing Partner in Legas Legal Solutions. Dmitry Dyakin holds an LL.M. degree from the New York University School of Law (USA), a Law Degree (with honors) from the Moscow State Social University and an M.P.L. Degree from the Russian School of Private Law. He also attended MBA program at the State University – Higher school of economics.
