Dirk De Meulemeester (°1970) graduated from Ghent University Law School in 1993,
obtained a certificate in 'English Legal Methods'at the University of Cambridge in 2001
and a certificate in 'International Commercial Arbitration' at the university of Cologne in 2005.
Dirk is admitted to the Ghent Bar in 1994 and combines his law practice with academic activities.
He is a member of the Centre for Law and Computer science (Centrum voor Jurist en Informatica)
at the Ghent University and is also a lecturer at the College of Mechelen (KUL).
As a presiding arbitrator for the arbitral tribunal of the Belgian dispute board for the travelling sector
(Geschillencommissie Reizen), chairman of CEPANI40 and as an arbitrator for CEPANI
(Belgian Centre for Arbitration and Mediation) and ICC, Dirk gained a breadth of experience in
Alternative Dispute Resolution. Dirk is a member of the editorial staff of the high-quality newspaper
De Tijd, in which he writes a weekly legal column on labour law. Dirk is a much sought-after author
and frequent speaker for seminars on topics related to his areas of expertise.
